The findings suggest that AI opponents, often seen as a fallback when human players are unavailable, can serve as a training ground. Players who practice against computer-controlled characters tend to build confidence and skill, making them more willing to jump into multiplayer matches. This cycle of practice and social play appears to extend overall play time.

Researchers observed that games featuring adaptive AI--opponents that learn and adjust to a player's style--kept users engaged longer than static, predictable enemies.
