Wax Moon opens new arcade in Scott’s Addition

Pass the controller, because Wax Moon is leveling up. The beloved Richmond record shop and arcade is opening a second location in the Scott's Addition neighborhood. Known for its mix of vintage vinyl and classic arcade cabinets, the original Wax Moon on West Broad Street has become a local hangout for gamers and music lovers alike. The new space will double down on the arcade side of the business, offering a larger floor plan dedicated to pinball machines, fighting games, and retro consoles.

The Scott's Addition location is set to occupy a former warehouse space, a common theme for the neighborhood's rapid transformation into a hub for breweries, cideries, and entertainment. While the original store will continue to focus on records and a smaller selection of games, the new arcade aims to be a destination for tournaments and late-night play. Owners have hinted at a rotating lineup of machines, with plans to feature rare cabinets that are hard to find outside of private collections.

No official opening date has been announced yet, but construction is underway. For now, fans can keep their quarters ready and watch for updates on the expansion. The move signals a growing trend in Richmond where niche entertainment venues are thriving, blending nostalgia with modern social spaces.
