Port development studio Virtuos has expressed interest in bringing two of Rockstar Games' biggest titles to the Nintendo Switch. The Singapore-based company, known for its work on the Switch version of LA Noire, said it would like to tackle Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the hybrid console.
In a recent interview, a Virtuos representative noted that the studio has the technical capability to handle such large-scale open-world games. The company has a strong track record with ports, having also worked on Dark Souls Remastered for Switch and the recent Batman: Arkham Knight port for mobile devices. However, the representative acknowledged that porting GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2 would be a significant challenge due to the Switch's hardware limitations compared to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Grand Theft Auto 5 originally launched in 2013 and has since been re-released on multiple platforms, including current-generation consoles. Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018, is widely considered one of the most technically demanding games of its era. Both titles would require major optimization to run smoothly on the Switch's portable hardware.
Virtuos did not confirm any active development deals with Rockstar or its parent company Take-Two Interactive. The comments appear to be speculative, reflecting the studio's ambition rather than an official announcement. Nintendo Switch owners have long hoped for more Rockstar games on the platform, with only LA Noire and a few older titles currently available.
